LinkSource FAQ
What is LinkSource and what does it do?
LinkSource is an OpenURL link resolver, which is a tool that locates the full text of an article from a citation in a database. When you click on the check for full text button in a library database, LinkSource will determine whether the library has access to that particular article. If the library has full text electronic access, you will automatically be taken to the full text of that article. If the library has access through another format, such as print or microform, LinkSource will tell you where to find it. And if the library has no access whatsoever to that article, you will be given a link to our Interlibrary Loan service.

How is this different from the previous system?

Previously, when you checked for full text, you were told whether or not the library had access to that particuarly journal, and it was up to you to figure out whether the library had the particular article that you needed. LinkSource, thanks to OpenURL technology, is able to tell you whether the library has the actual article that you need. With the old system, you had to click multiple times until you got to the full text of the article. Thanks to LinkSource, you now only have to click once!

You may also notice that the Periodicals/Journals list looks different. The reason for this change is that, in the process of implementing LinkSource, we have a different vendor managing our title list. While the page looks different, it functions the same way.

What do I do if I have problems accessing an article?
